beyond common core

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) have underlined a focus on reading and writing across the curriculum. Like the integrated approach employed by the WCATY curriculum framework, the CCSS highlights the variety of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills that different domains and text types require. This allows for the two models to easily align. The WCATY Pathways to Expertise, our feedback system, begins with the skills highlighted by the Common Core and go beyond by designing curriculum that targets the kinds of higher level thinking that being a professional in a field requires.
